The National Association of Landscape Professionals kicked off its annual education and networking event in Louisville, Kentucky, today. Landscapes 2018 is being held at the Omni Louisville Hotel and the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The show is starting a day early this year, with training workshops and member meetings on Tuesday. Educational sessions designed to help landscape and lawn care companies manage the challenges they face in their businesses and grow to the next level will take place throughout the rest of the week.
Dr. Robert Ballard, the oceanographer who discovered the wreckage of the Titanic, will kick off Landscapes 2018 with the opening keynote.
On Thursday, NALP will honor the best commercial and residential design/build and maintenance projects with the Awards of Excellence presentations and reception. This year, the awards are free for all show attendees.
Multiple receptions throughout the week will bring together young professionals and new NALP members and conference attendees. A Student/Employer Roundtable will give students an opportunity to speak with multiple potential employers in one location.

GIE+EXPO and Hardscape North America, co-located at the Kentucky Exposition Center, will host about 1,000 landscape, lawn care and outdoor living exhibitors. More than 24,000 participants are expected to attend the show.
“Every indication points to the 2018 show being bigger than [it’s] ever been on all fronts,” Warren Sellers, show director, said in a statement. “Participation from all segments of the industry is going strong. Add to that the synergy that’s being generated by the new Wednesday format as well as exhibitors who are stepping up participation on the show floor –both indoors and out—and this is shaping up to be our best event yet!”
GIE+EXPO is sponsored by NALP, the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute and the Professional Grounds Management Society.
