Bustling M&A activity for large landscaping firms

The last 12 months have been busy for landscape companies around the country as a number of large firms announced mergers and acquisitions.

BrightView: BrightView announced in February that it had acquired Austin-based Benchmark Landscapes. Earlier this year, the company acquired Bay Area landscaper Emerald Landscape Company, and in November 2018, it acquired Russo Lawn & Landscape in Hartford, Connecticut.

Davey Tree: Employee-owned Davey Tree Expert Company expanded its reach in Houston in February with the acquisition of Landscape Management Services, a commercial service provider in landscape, irrigation and new construction.

SaveATree: The tree, shrub and lawn care provider announced its first foray into Arizona with its acquisition of Phoenix-based Integrity Tree Service.

SiteOne: The landscape supply company has been actively acquiring landscaping companies around the country, including in Colorado. In October 2018, the company acquired C&C Sand and Stone, with locations in Castle Rock, Colorado Springs and Denver. Most recently, the company announced it had acquired Boston-based Landscape Depot Supply, its third acquisition of 2019.

SRS Distribution: The Texas-based materials distributor announced in February that it acquired CPS Distributors, an irrigation and landscape wholesale supplier based in Westminster, and Automatic Supply, an Indiana-based supplier. The two companies will be combined under SRS to form Heritage Landscape Supply Group.
